Poem 27

You’re the sun in my heart
I’ve wasted all the debris of the past
It is always the last time,
Until the first it again becomes
I remember when ten were
More than half of my life
The nothingness of vanity
In the devil’s garden
An ebbed bird of prey
I’ve changed course
Past the mountain, past the desert
Four times ten and two
You’re still the sun of my heart

Haiku 8

no vértice a perfeição
nos cantos a paixão
gelo estilhaçado, efémero

Poem 26

history in reverse. parallel lines.
your pond, my hockey field
orange ginger hair; burgundy hair
the light, the shadow
my dad born in the heart of darkness,
they trapped you
skinny frame; curved body
history in reverse. parallel lines.
no mark on my skin, yours a stamp
no love, never loved;
much love, always loved
a grades; i go with the flow
chocolate & chips; apple and pie
returned to sender, somewhere out there

Haiku 7

do denso nevoeiro de agosto
espreita a árvore grande
imensa e silenciosa

Poem 25

come monday
and there you still are
a gentle agitation
from one two become
untethered
hobbling, along the path

Haiku 6

três menos quatro, dois
suave aragem, embrulhada a noite
de cinco e seis que são sete

Wednesday 28 April 2010

Poem 24

it’s beyond tears and precludes
the haphazardly day
in which the return occurs
impatient patience withers
blue rosebuds, growing
smiles and sweet almonds

Haiku 5

o cheiro das magnólias
perfuma a varanda
iluminada pelo farol

Sunday 21 February 2010

Poem 23

and a tricky, trickfull, trickster
fifteen februaries came and went
from me you’ve walked
a lost twin
the golden bag of tricks
with an ace of diamonds
they say we only betray
those we truly love
under the leaves of the turkey oak
you’ve smiled me
sealing the broken promise

Sunday 7 February 2010

Poem 22

pomegranates, limes, persimmons, loquats
newton’s apple at my feet
i dream of you
downstairs, facing the moon
my mirrored image
tells me of charms and idle days
spent under the polar star
grapefruit, mangoes, avocados, raspberries
and newton’s apple at my feet
a night’s clarity salted with grey
peppered lollipop, dried tears
shining glass, paper dust
a thousand glowing afternoons,
i dream of you

Haiku 4

lustres de papel, luz acesa
vagaroso correr do tempo
alegre o dia

Monday 4 January 2010

Poem 21

this summery breeze
so out of time
storms me
the bed undone
swinging curtains
there you lay
years before, another you
on the balcony
a hand too swift
waved timely with the river

Haiku 3

aragem de primavera
na noite de inverno
traz-te a mim
